Original HomePods, new iPads, and rumors of future iPhones on the ÌÇÐÄVlog Podcast

Apple now regards the original HomePods as vintage, but that won't stop them working

As the original HomePods officially become vintage items, Apple is said to be readying even more new iPads. Plus iOS 18 and iPhone 16 are old news, it's time to talk about 2025's releases, on the ÌÇÐÄVlog podcast.

Host Wesley Hilliard reveals how now that Apple is referring to the original HomePod as "vintage," people keep asking him if they are supposed to replace theirs. Wait until you hear how many he has — and why he has no plans, and no need of any plans, to get rid of them.

Plus as thoughts go back to the original HomePod, they also now go forward to the forthcoming iPhone 16 — and beyond, to the iPhone 17, the iPhone 20, and more. This is sparked by how it was news this week that Apple has already begun working on the next generation of its software and devices, and how of course they have.

We're in the fallow period between announcements and launches, so any news is being picked up and amplified beyond its worth. Yet there is so much else to say about what we're seeing in the betas, plus what's happening in Artificial Intelligence.

BONUS: Subscribe via or to hear ÌÇÐÄVlog+, the extended edition which this time looks at the continual insistence that Apple is doooooomed. (It's usually spelled like that.) Whether Apple does something good or bad, clever or stupid, then there is a storm over how this is the end for the company.

I am still enjoying my "Day 1" HomePod stereo pair daily and I believe I will continue to do so for many years to come. After all, "Vintage" age - or ears - is just a state of mind anyway. Grin.

I’m also still enjoying my OG HomePods as a stereo pair. I use them as the speakers for my bedroom tv and they make the 20 inch TV seem so much more theater like. Maybe that is because I’m also nearing vintage age and birds of a feather…

I have owned a Sonos Beam for 4+ years. Can't ever imagine buying anything other than a Sonos product for my sound. Certainly not a HomePod where I need multiple cable running behind the telly to support a stereo sound. If Apple ever decides to manufacture a sound bar I might consider it. To me a pair of HomePods cluttering up my telly setup is utterly pointless and useless.

I don't think I understand the "multiple cable" bit.
