Your "smooth transition" argument is pretty meh.
It is NOT going to be painful. At all. 99.9% of customers use the headphones that come with their iPhone. Apple will include Lightning headphones. Problem solved before it can ever start. You are way over exaggerating.
Like Victor says, "Apple doesn't do transition."
