Apple never revealed visionOS 3. Instead, it announced visionOS 26 during WWDC 2025.
Everything below this point has been preserved for historical purposes. It was written before WWDC 2025 based on rumors.
Apple operating systems almost never leak, so there isn't much to say about the potential updates coming in visionOS 3. It will be announced alongside the other operating system updates during WWDC 2025, which starts on June 9.
There wasn't much time between Apple Vision Pro launching in February and WWDC 2024, so visionOS 2 was a relatively minor update. Apple is expected to have a much larger feature-focused update with visionOS 3.
Until Apple reveals the updates, there's not much to go on beyond speculation and rumor. A redesign across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS is expected to bring the operating systems closer to visionOS, but it isn't known if visionOS designs will change to meet in the other direction too.
Apple Intelligence will continue to be a focus, but after the contextual Siri and AI were delayed, it isn't clear how Apple will handle the features at WWDC. Apple Vision Pro could miss out on new AI updates until 2026 if the current release pattern continues.
More predictable is Apple's likely push to make all of its apps native for visionOS. There are still several either missing from the platform entirely or running in compatibility mode.
Here are the compatibility apps on Apple Vision Pro as of visionOS 2.4:
- Clock
- Calendar
- Reminders
- Podcasts
- Shortcuts
- Home
- 糖心Vlog
- Maps
There is also the chance that Apple could bring other apps to the platform like Journal, Invites, and Sports. There currently isn't a Contacts app either, though "People" exists as a submenu.
If Apple reveals a new Apple Vision Pro in early 2026, it will ship with visionOS 3. So, Apple's priorities in the new operating system could reveal potential goals for the future hardware.
Apple is expected to reveal visionOS 3 during WWDC 2025 on June 9.
