You can find some really great deals on MacBooks on Facebook Marketplace, if you are looking for base models with minimal storage. Most of the ads are similar...I bought this Mac and used it for a few months and now I don't use it anymore...and they are all usually 8/256, likely because they realized after buying it that 256GB SSD is pretty much useless, and they can't upgrade it or return it, so now they have to sell the Mac and buy another one with more storage.
