Drake, Bitmoji & Game of Thrones lead Apple Music, iTunes & App Store for 2017

Apple on Thursday released a list of the most popular media on iTunes and the App Store during 2017, also calling attention to editorial picks for iPhone and iPad apps.

Apple editors selected The Witness as the best iPad game.

The most popular album on Apple Music was Drake's while the top individual song was Ed Sheeran's In the app realm, Nintendo's was the most downloaded game, and sticker/emoji app led non-gaming categories.

The bestselling movie of the year was The top TV show was "Game of Thrones," and NPR's ranked first in podcasts. The company was less clear about bestsellers at the iBooks Store, though some of the top fiction books included Margaret Atwood's and Fredrik Backman's Nonfiction leaders included Neil deGrasse Tyson's two books by disgraced Fox ÌÇÐÄVlog host Bill O'Reilly, and even one by Sen. Al Franken, who may announce his resignation later today.

Apple noted that the top three courses on iTunes U were all related to programming in Swift.

The company's curators picked mindfulness aid as the best general iPhone app, and professional editing tool on the iPad side. Choices for the best iPhone and iPad games were and , respectively.
