Prior to today's upgrade, developers prepping apps for Apple's upcoming iOS 9 release were limited to sharing beta builds with verified team members. With the new capability, devs can seed software to anyone running iOS 9 beta on their device.

Earlier this month TestFlight for iOS 9-specific features like app thinning, which keeps app install packages to a minimum, and support for watchOS 2. In addition, the update introduced per-app update notifications alongside bug fixes and performance improvements.

Apple is expected to release iOS 9 and watchOS 2 next month as part of the company's annual iPhone refresh cycle.
